Your Slides and the Jury—The Booth Shot
Learn the most important techniques for improving your chances of being selected for juried shows. One of the most important things is the only one over which artists have control aside from the quality of the slides being used, and that is the order in which they are presented to the jury.
Independent Artists will also find great advice from Milon Townsend as he shares the planning that must go into the decision to teach glass art and how to successfully market those classes. You can read about the highlights of the latest Internet upgrades from the Art Glass Association that are designed to help its members harness the power of the Internet for their own businesses. You’ll also find information from Maria Moran of Ed Hoy International that introduces glass retailers to a new product, ‘Dye’namic Infusion,’ which allows them to produce glass tiles that are dyed with custom graphics, as well as tips for marketing this new product. And you won’t want to miss the great tips from Karen Ami of the Society of Mosaic Artists for increasing your chances of being accepted into juried shows in the article, Preparing Your Mosaic Work for Exhibition. Then be sure to read the latest from the International Guild of Glass Artists by John Emery on ways to keep your business humming even during tough economic times and take a look with Denny Berkery of the Retailers of Art Glass and Supplies at how mixing old and new sales techniques can keep your business growing.
You can find the rest of these articles in the Fall 2009 issue of Profitable Glass Quarterly.
