Spring 2004

Vittorio Constantini—He’ll Drive You Buggy!
Using the medium of lampworking, Vittorio Constantini transforms colored canes into insects that are both technically accurate and amazingly beautiful. It takes incredible patience, a lot of experience, and incredibly good eyes to complete this process. More than forty years of experience, love, and an uncanny sense of color and proportion go into each piece.
by Marcie Davis

Also look for Glass Talk with Dale Smeltzer in an interview with Stevie Bell, torchwork artist, who is known for the unusual textures that she puts on the vessels that she makes. Her love of color and texture spring from her background as a glassblower, where she learned to use powders and frits. Stevie has found that the textures she is able to accomplish depend on the amount that she layers on and how much she fuses it into the surface.
