Summer 2010

Judith Schaechter
Judith Schaechter attended art school at the Rhode Island School of Design to train as a painter, taking all of the appropriate courses. When she happened to enroll in an elective stained glass course, she knew that she had found the perfect medium to be her creative outlet. The images that she creates in imported, handblown stained glass are vaguely medieval human images within exquisitely beautiful and ornate backgrounds.
by Colleen Bryan

You’ll also find marketing strategies for 2010 from the American Glass Association, take a look into the development and importance of the seal of the Stained Glass Association of America, and discover some of the things it takes to develop mosaics with a painterly look from Society of American Mosaic Artists. The International Guild of Glass Artists shares the glass art created by one of its members, John Bassett, who uses recycled glass in his artwork, then you won’t want to miss a description of the delights in Detroit, Michigan, that await the attendees of the American Glass Guild 2010 Conference plus a preview of the glass art tours that will be available to attendees of the upcoming Glass Art Society 2010 Conference. Rounding out this great issue is a look at Kitengela Glass in Kenya, Africa, where beautiful glass art is created using found glass.
