Finding the Fun in Glass Art Education
The KBW Foundation, the goal of which is to introduce the public to the joys of glass art, sponsored its first educational cruise aboard the Celebrity ship, Solstice. Workshops, demonstrations, and seminars provided vacationing glass enthusiasts with new ideas and new insights into working with glass as well tips for making the most of a glass business. An additional asset was a chance to network with other glass artists and retailers during this relaxing and informative week at sea.

On January 10, 2010, the KBW Foundation, the goal of which is to introduce the public to the enjoyment and value of glass art, sponsored a cruise on Celebrity Solstice. Vacationing glass enthusiasts were able to take advantage of workshops, lectures, and demonstrations that were devoted to the various types of glass art. The theme of the event, “Accelerate Your Creativity,” rang true for all of the attendees as they participated in this great chance to improve their techniques and learn new ones.

Kitengela—Glass Paradise

Nani Crozer, looking for a way to support her children, established Kitengela Glass, but she discovered that in Kenya, Africa, there was no glass available for creating her artwork. With her characteristic determination she decided to make her own from bottles of all kinds, window glass, and even broken household items. Nani turn the recycled shards into exquisitely colored glass for blowing and dalle de verre for use in larger applications.
